Six built solo
Flagship product
Build and run sequences of labelled timers as one stack, with music, HealthKit stats and AI-generated routines. iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch.
Pool care
Log a water reading and get the exact chemical dose for your pool's volume, safe step-by-step treatment plans with wait timers, and weather-aware chlorine advice. Everything stays on the device.
Pet behaviour
Listens for a dog's bark and plays that same bark back within half a second, filming the reaction as a share-ready clip. On-device sound classification, with a volume ceiling, cooldowns and session limits that no purchase can loosen.
Creative AI
Set four dials; a poet, a topic, a form and a tone; and it writes a poem to keep, edit, illustrate with AI art and share as a card. One-off credits rather than a subscription.
Diagnostics utility
A CoreBluetooth scanner for IoT work. Live signal graphs, a radar proximity finder for tracking down hardware, and full inspection of advertisement data, services and characteristics.
Design tooling
Builds a complete interface palette from two sliders. Colours are generated in OKLCH, every pairing is graded live against WCAG 2.1, and the palette is simulated through four kinds of colour vision deficiency. Exports to CSS, SwiftUI or Android XML.
02
I am a senior iOS engineer with six years of production experience, currently on the core iOS team at OANDA, where I led the migration of the flagship crypto trading apps from legacy UIKit to a modern SwiftUI architecture.
Before engineering I spent twelve years co-founding and running a marketing agency of more than twenty people. That is the part of my background that shows up in the apps: scoping, deciding what not to build, and getting things finished.
Alongside the day job I have designed, built and shipped six iOS apps on my own. Not just the code: the icons, the App Store listings, the marketing sites, the privacy policies and the support emails. Applied AI runs through several of them, both as product features and as part of how I work.
I write about how each one actually gets made, including the parts that break, as British Dev Diary. Studio and client work lives separately at itch.studio.
